Casting
Profession: Cast Fisher. Skill: Casting.
Casting splits into two phases.
Throw phase
- An arrow bar determines throw distance based on where you release.
- Farther throws raise the chance of finding a fish but produce a longer reel-in during the catch phase, sharply increasing difficulty.
- Your character reels in slowly - the later in the reel a fish hooks, the easier the catch phase.
- Short throws can fail to find a fish at all.
Catch phase
A tug-and-release mini-game. Press E to pull the fish toward you; release to let it run.
- The fish tries to escape up the bar; you need to drag it down to 0m to win.
- Flexibility (summed across Rod, Blank, and Line) governs how far the fish swims away while you are not pulling - the main driver of how quickly it can escape.
- Strength (summed, excluding the Reel) contributes to holding the fish during the tug phase.
- Reel Strength is checked against the fish's strength to soften or stiffen the fight; Reel Speed drives how fast the fish closes toward 0m while you hold E.
- A circular stamina gauge limits how long you can hold E. You lose if the fish reaches the top of the bar or if you exhaust stamina.
- If the fish is already past halfway and you have full stamina, holding E from the start is usually enough to auto-win.
- Otherwise, watch for the same enrage mechanic - both the fish's escape speed (when not pulling) and your stamina drain (when pulling) jump significantly. You need stamina headroom to hold against an enrage or you lose fast.
